Formé à l’Institut d’œnologie de Bordeaux (D.U.A.D. 1986), Jean Aubry complète sur place sa formation par deux stages de vinifications auprès de Jean-Claude Berrouet aux châteaux Petrus & Lafleur-Gazin, et, en 1989, chez Taittinger, en Champagne. De retour au Québec, il poursuit le filon vin en devenant Wine Coach, sommelier sans tablier, animateur et chroniqueur. Lauréat de prix journalistiques (dont Louis Marinier à Bordeaux, Grands Jours de Bourgogne etc.) dans la catégorie presse internationale, Jean Aubry est aujourd’hui connu pour la liberté et l’intégrité de sa plume. Il partage avec humour et passion chaque semaine depuis 1993 ses humeurs du vin au quotidien Le Devoir après avoir publié 13 éditions du «Guide Aubry des 100 meilleurs vins à moins de 25$» aux éditions Transcontinental.

Jean Aubry’s passion for wine began in 1979, when he decided to make wine his profession, starting his education at the Institut d’Oenologie de Bordeaux where he obtained a tasting diploma in 1986 (D.U.A.D.). Following his studies, he apprenticed under Jean-Claude Berrouet, making wine at Châteaux Lafleur-Gazin & Petrus. Then came a stage in Champagne at Taittinger in 1989 where he learned the art of Champagne making. From 2003 to 2007, Aubry set up a school in Paris dedicated to teaching women about wine called, «L’École des Femmes du Vin». Back in Quebec, he pursued his profession working in restaurants (developing wine lists and training staff), hosting wine-tasting conferences, and penning a weekly column at the daily newspaper, Le Devoir, since 1993. Aubry has been awarded prizes for his writing in Burgundy and Bordeaux, and is recognized internationally for his professionalism and writings on wine and spirits. Aubry has also authored Quebec’s favourite wine guide, the best-selling «Le Guide Aubry des 100 meilleurs vins à moins de 25$» (Transcontinental publishers) for 13 editions.
